The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid takes all that’s good about the RAV4 and adds standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and a hybrid gas/electric powertrain. The result is a RAV4 that gets vastly better fuel economy and has more power for passing and merging, yet only costs about $1,250 more than its gasoline-only AWD equivalent.
For 2023, RAV4 Hybrid gets some new features, including an improved multimedia system, an available 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a new Woodland Edition that gives the hybrid light off-road ability.

Like all RAV4 Hybrid grades, the LE features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors (one up front and one powering the rear wheels) for a combined output of 219 horsepower. Power runs through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
Among the LE’s five drive modes is an EV mode for running solely on electric power and a Trail mode for venturing off-road.
From here, the hybrid LE follows pretty much the same content and options as its non-hybrid twin. That means Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard, bringing vital driver assists such as forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

The LE gets an updated infotainment system this year. It features an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 6-speaker stereo. The system includes Toyota’s connected services, which enable access to cloud-based navigation, remote start, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and various emergency services.
ToyotaCare free scheduled maintenance covers two years or 25,000 miles, with free roadside assistance for two years and unlimited miles.

The Woodland Edition brings a bit of ruggedness to the hybrid side of the RAV4 family. Please don’t mistake this for a hybrid version of the TRD Off-Road, as it doesn’t have a heavy-duty suspension, multi-terrain modes, or torque-vectoring AWD.
The Woodland Edition begins as the XLE, adding 18-inch TRD bronze alloy wheels, Falken Wildpeak A/T tires, integrated LED fog lights, and dual black chromed-tipped exhaust.
The interior retains the cloth seats but gets a few more outdoorsy add-ons, like Woodland all-weather floor mats and cargo bay liner, plus a 120V/100W A/C power outlet in the cargo bay.
There are no option packages for the Woodland Edition.
