This is the time of year when we begin learning what will be redesigned, refreshed, or straight carried over for the new model year. We will also find out what individual features, technology, and option packages will be added.
Toyota Tacoma is completely new from the ground up (I particularly am obsessing over TRD PreRunner and Trailhunter at the moment).
You are watching: What to Expect with 2024 Toyota Tundra
We are not really sure yet what will happen with Toyota 4Runner and Sequoia.
The same goes for 2024 Toyota Tundra. But we can make some strong hypotheses based on previous year-to-year changes.
2024 Toyota Tundra Changes
Since Tundra was redesigned recently, for the 2022 year, I would not expect any changes to its two powertrains.
We can look for an i-FORCE 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This produces (other than SR trim level) 389 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. torque.
The i-FORCE MAX Tundra Hybrid utilizes this same twin-turbo but employs a parallel hybrid system with a 48-horsepower electric motor and a sealed nickel-metal hydride drive battery. Same 10-speed automatic transmission. But Tundra i-FORCE MAX has much more power – 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. torque.

We should be learning what the unique signature 2024 TRD Pro color is for Toyota Tundra, Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Sequoia, and Toyota 4Runner (some fans were upset that the color was not announced with the world premiere of 2024 Tacoma last month).
We should find out sometime this Summer.
How this affects 2024 Tundra is that Toyota should replace Solar Octane as the special color and introduce a new one in its place (I have a few favorite shades I would like to see).
I would still expect to see Ice Cap white and Midnight Black Metallic, as they are staples each year. Not sure what other color will be used. Maybe Magnetic Gray, perhaps Celestial Silver.
I would love 2024 Toyota Tundra to add Underground on any and all of its trims for 2024 – including TRD Pro. Underground just looks that good.
2024 Toyota Tundra Solar Octane
Solar Octane is the outgoing 2023 Tundra TRD Pro color. It should leave the TRD Pro lineup. But we could see this bright orange paint on other trim levels in the Tundra lineup. This is the tradition lately for outgoing TRD Pro colors.
I know many Tundra fans have been waiting for their Solar Octane TRD Pro, so maybe this is their chance to still get the color they want, but just on a different grade.

2024 Tundra Updates
We only had one notable addition for 2023 Tundra. This was the SX Package. Not much to mention as “new”, but I would not have expected this either since Tundra was just entirely changed the year before.
I would assume we will see a few more new tricks for 2024. Maybe one or two special edition trim levels or packages. Could be a few new technology features or capabilities.
My recent Torque News story focused on some new features for 2024 Tacoma that I would like to see on 2024 Tundra too. I hope they add the power tailgate the raises and lowers, both from the driver and passenger taillights with special “secret” buttons.
