Every Hybrid Truck Available in 2023 & 2024, Ranked by MPG
Pickups with full hybrid powertrains, like the Ford F-150, rely on electric motors for power at lower speeds, which improves fuel efficiency and saves you money at the pump. Some hybrid trucks improve gas mileage significantly, while others focus more on improving acceleration and torque. In a perfect world, a hybrid configuration should offer a balance of both, though not all hybrid trucks are created equal. We have listed every hybrid truck available in 2023, ranked by mpg.

The Best Available Hybrid Trucks in 2023 & 2024 are:
1. 2024 Ford Maverick • 37 mpg
The Maverick is a unibody truck that’s smaller than the Ford Ranger. It carries a low starting price and is impressively capable for its size. However, it’s not as tough or well-equipped as most of today’s pickups. The standard Maverick features a peppy and fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain that makes 191 horsepower and can tow 2,000 pounds.
If you plan to use this compact pickup for towing, you’ll probably want to opt for the available 250-horsepower turbo-4, which boosts the maximum towing capacity to 4,000 pounds. Inside, the Maverick is modern and attractive and comes standard with a straightforward infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, and a few ADAS features.

The Maverick was an all-new compact pickup truck for the 2022 model year and is unchanged for 2024, apart from the new, rugged Tremor off-road trim.
2. 2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid • 25 mpg
The F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America for many years, and for good reason. It’s available with a long list of capable and fuel-efficient engine options, including a hybrid and an upcoming fully electric version. Moreover, the F-150 outperforms all large pickup trucks when it comes to maximum towing and hauling capacities.

While this Ford pickup is the most capable half-ton truck on the market, it also offers an upscale and family-friendly interior. The F-150 earns good crash-test ratings, which can’t be said about all its classmates. What’s more, Ford provides key infotainment features and advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) at lower prices than other full-size trucks.
Shopping for a Used F-150?
The F-150 was completely redesigned for 2021. Older versions won’t have the hybrid option, look current, or have as many standard features, but they could save you substantial money. The 2022 model is essentially a carryover, though there are some changes to package availability.
3. 2023 Ram 1500 with eTorque • 22 mpg
The Ram 1500 offers one of the smoothest rides and the most upscale interiors in its class. Among its five capable engine options, you’ll find two that feature Ram’s eTorque mild-hybrid systems. The 1500’s standard powertrain has an electric motor combined with a 3.6-liter V6 to produce 305 horsepower.
When paired with a larger 5.7-liter V8, the Ram 1500 mild hybrid can make 395 horsepower. The more powerful mild-hybrid versions add 130 pound-feet of torque to boost towing capacity to 12,750 pounds.

The mild-hybrid setup debuted along with the Ram’s current generation, which started with the 2019 model year. Ram 1500s from 2019-2023 have nearly identical styling and features.
4. 2024 Toyota Tundra • 22 mpg
While the Toyota Tundra’s standard engine is a 348-horsepower twin-turbo V6, a 437-horsepower hybrid powertrain is available. It combines an electric motor with the same V6 to improve fuel economy and significantly increase torque. That said, it’s expensive and not fuel-efficient, and the hybrid doesn’t provide competitive towing capacity.
The Tundra is upscale, roomy, comfortable, and loaded with intuitive infotainment features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5 suite of ADAS features.

Toyota redesigned the Tundra for the 2022 model year, and the hybrid option became available as part of the redesign. The previous generation debuted in 2007, and aside from features being added over the years, there were not many notable changes until this redesign.
Discontinued Hybrid Trucks
Chevrolet discontinued its Silverado 1500 Hybrid in 2013, but finding a used model for sale is still possible. The Silverado hybrid paired a V8 engine with two electric motors, returning excellent (for the time) fuel-efficiency ratings of 20 mpg in the city and 23 on the highway.
The Silverado Hybrid engine accelerates quickly, but critics noted that the transition between gas and electric power isn’t always smooth. Its tow rating maxes out at 6,100 pounds, among the lowest in the segment.
When it was new, the Silverado Hybrid was offered as a Crew Cab. It seats between 5 and 6 people, depending on its configuration.
The GMC Sierra 1500 Hybrid, the Silverado’s corporate twin, also produced 332 horsepower using a V8 gasoline engine and two electric motors.

How We Ranked These Pickup Trucks
At Carfax, data and value drive our rankings. We found every pickup truck with a mild-hybrid, traditional hybrid, or plug-in hybrid powertrain available and put it on this list. We ranked them by their maximum EPA-estimated fuel economy in combined city and highway driving. If there was a tie, we ranked the cheaper truck higher. Our rankings are based on the latest models, but since many of these vehicles have remained unchanged from earlier years, our insights also apply to used models.
*We cite the EPA’s combined mpg range for each vehicle, which takes into account the mpg for both city and highway driving.
