Austin Lee Russell, also known as Chumlee, ostensibly works at the shop, testing items and writing tickets. He was nicknamed by the father of one of his friends after a walrus sidekick on the animated children’s show Tennessee Tuxedo. Chumlee is mocked for being incompetent and lazy in every episode. He also acts as the eternal guinea pig when the staff wants to test anything dangerous. Though he wasn’t originally intended to be a main character, the producers loved him and insisted that he appear in every episode.
Richard Benjamin Harrison Jr., nicknamed “The Old Man,” often played the straight man to Corey and Chumlee. Despite frequently being seen resting his eyes at his desk, he was the first to show up to the shop each day, and the last time he took a sick day was in 1994. Sadly, Richard Harrison passed away on June 25th, 2018, at the age of 77. Rick confirmed his father’s passing via Instagram, writing, “He will be tremendously missed by our family, the team at Gold & Silver Pawn, and his many fans the world over.”
