This delicious seafood sauce recipe is my go-to for any seafood boil. It’s a super easy recipe to whip up and I always have the ingredients handy at any time!
I tend to keep a container of this in the refrigerator on a regular basis during crawfish season here in Louisiana.

🧅 Ingredients
- Mayonnaise
- Ketchup
- Thousand Island Dressing
- Hot Sauce
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Lemon Juice
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Creole Seasoning
See recipe card below for ingredient amounts.
🥣 Instructions
- Step 1: Add all the ingredients to a medium mixing bowl.
- Step 2: Mix well using a wire whisk and serve next to some lemon wedges.
Hint: Make sure to sprinkle the seasoning over the wet ingredients. If you put it in in a pile, then it can clump up and be hard to mix.
🔄 Substitutions and Variations
- Horseradish – if you take away the mayonnaise and add horseradish you’ll have more of a shrimp cocktail sauce.
- Spicy– the quantities in this recipe will not give you a very spicy sauce. It has a slight bite to it, which kids can handle. If you like more heat though feel free to add more hot sauce or even some red pepper flakes.
- Garlic Cloves – Add some minced garlic for another flavor dimension.
- Soy Sauce – You could use soy sauce in place of the Worcestershire sauce for the umami flavor (salty flavors).
- Old Bay Seasoning – try using this seasoning instead of the Creole type. You may need to add some Cayenne for more power.
- Olive Oil – If you like a thinner seafood sauce you could try adding some olive oil to thin it out.
- Black Pepper – for a little more spice.
- White Wine – some people like to add a teaspoon or two.
- Chili Powder – for added heat, not too much though if you like a milder sauce. Or use Chili Sauce.
- Lemon Pepper – for added flavor.
- Brown Sugar – A little sweet molasses type flavor.

🔌 Equipment
The only equipment you’ll need for this recipe is a mixing bowl, a medium bowl will hold it, or if you want to get wild with your whisk use a large bowl – and naturally you’ll need a whisk.
🧊 Storage
Add this easy seafood sauce to an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. It will be good for up to 3 days.

Mayonnaise typically doesn’t hold up to freezing, it affects the texture and becomes a bit weird and separated.

💡 Tips
Expert Tip: If you have a variety of guests who like their seafood sauce from being no heat to super spicy rather make it with no heat and offer hot sauce for those with a spicy palate to up the spice level of their seafood dip on their plate.
